Wellington

Wellington is a compact city and easy to walk around and navigate. We recommend that you always take a jacket or something warm with you when you go out in Wellington though, even in summer! Although the temperature may be pleasant, you have to account for the wind that can spring up quickly and be quite cool - often straight off Antarctica. The weather forecasts are usually not very reliable either!

New Zealand

If you are visiting New Zealand and plan to drive, we recommend that instead of driving from the north to the south, that you consider doing the reverse. The reason for this is that most tourists pick up a rental car in Auckland and drive south, leaving a whole lot of vehicles in the South Island. This means that at certain intervals throughout the year there are very good rates for driving north as opposed to driving south as operators want to get their cars back to Auckland. It is worth asking about this before you book a car.
